Cleaning up around the edges

Several functions of WordPress did not function for me — on a hunch, I switched from Internet Express to my Mozilla browser, and most of the functions magically popped up. I’ve been cleaning up the categories of posts and tweaking a few other things to make the site easier for readers. Nothing should be deleted, but let me know if something either disappears or stops working. And I’ll be using Mozilla here a lot more.

    Sharon, if you click on Paul’s name on his post, it will take you to his blog (there’s a scary photo at the top at the moment — I don’t think that’s Paul).

    Tell him your problem and ask for help. He’s a programmer.

    Good luck.

  3. Well, thanks @Ed Darrell, but that really doesn’t answer my question. I moved the addthis text widget to the bottom of the category list and that straightened out the category title fonts, but defeats the purpose of addthis to have it at the bottom of the scroll. :)

    Change it back! Those instructions were five years ago — WordPress has change a lot since then!

  5. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, tried to follow the above instructions to change font size of sidebar titles. Lost header picture and font size didn’t change. Help, please.

    I’m not an expert, but I think if you go to the presentation…edit themes link in WordPress, and find the stylesheet, there should be the following text:

    .title, #sidebar h2 {
    font-family: ‘Arial Black';
    color: #333;
    font-size: 7.5pt;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 14px 0 0;
    }

    Replace that with:

    .title, #sidebar h2 {
    font-family: ‘Arial Black';
    color: #333;
    font-size: 7.5pt;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 14px 0 2px;
    }

    And it may look better. And if it doesn’t, change it back :)

    Paul,

    You’re right. I can’t find a way to modify it in the free version, for this particular style. If I could restrain myself to one- or two-word headlines, it would help . . . working on a solution, but I’m not expecting one.

    Another reader noted a couple of weeks ago that the font is very small on his display — something else I can’t modify (though, you should be able to modify it on your browser, easily by holding down the key and using your mouse scroller to increase or decrease font size on any page you happen to be browsing).

    WordPress provides these templates and space at no cost to me — let me just say that I’m grateful for how it works, and I am fulfilling my mission of learning what I need before classes start in the fall!

    Not sure if it’s always been like this, but the list of recent posts over there on the left could do with a little separation between items – right now it’s hard to tell where each one starts, and because they’re all SHOUTING as well it makes it difficult to read. But my compliments on the content!
