Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla

I like this photo of Mark Twain.

November 30 is the anniversary of the birth of Mark Twain, born 1835 (a year of an appearance of Halley’s Comet).  The photo was taken in the spring of 1894 in the laboratory of inventor Nikola Tesla, and originally published to illustrate an article in the legendary Century Magazine, by T.C. Martin called “Tesla’s Oscillator and Other Inventions,” in the April 1895 issue.

Who is that to Twain’s right in the photo?  Tesla?

Wetlandstorm, you’re right on the facts, but you’ve got a typo on the first date: 1910 and 1986. Halley’s comet comes around every 76 years. My father lived through two of them, also.

The 1910 appearance panicked a lot of people. The Earth passed through the tail, as I recall, and some feared the comet might be putting out poison gases. 1986 was almost an anti-climax.

    Thanks for dropping by.

You mention that Mark Twain was born in the year of the appearance of Halley’s Comet. He also died in the year if its appearance.

My grandmother saw the comet in 2 of its appearances, 1920 and 1986.
