“Eat your peas, Gregor”

Gregor Mendel was born July 20 in 1822.

Google’s doodle honors the man now generally regarded as the “father of modern genetics.”  The Washington Post blogs note, “Rare is the monk who gets to be celebrated for passing down his genes.”

Oblivious to Mendel’s work and significance, and to much else in the world of knowledge, the Texas State Board of Education debates how to frustrate the teaching of evolution with hearings in Austin tomorrow, and a vote on supplementary materials to texts in biology on Friday, July 22.

Mendel would urge, pray for Texas and the children who will be saddled with the decision of the Texas SBOE.

Look up something about Mendel.  Maybe we could all learn something from him.

Mendel: would have laughed at prissy, self-important pseudo-scientist like you. He would have found you little hissy-fits risible. He would have deplored your atheism and your Marxism.

I don’t think it’s fair to consider Mr. Barton prissy, self-important — I don’t think he ever claimed to be a scientist — and he’s neither atheist nor Marxist.

    Nor is anyone else here.

Whom were you addressing? Did you have anything of substance to say?

Ed, You have the best trolls ever! Uproariously funny. They can’t be real, can they?

Mr. Yetagain, I am a libertarian with an economics background who thinks Marx was a ridiculous thinker who had a poor understanding of economics and a much worse understanding of human nature. And yet as an anti-Marxist I have also studied evolution, and know it to be factual. That you feel the need to tie evolutionary theory to Marx only demonstrates that you understand neither Marx nor evolution.

Mr. Barton, Indeed, what about the millions of people whose faith in God is so weak that it’s threatened by the concept of evolution? How do we strengthen them so that they do not fear exploring the amazing world that is so wondrously made?

I learned about Mendel in school way back when we were sure that Father Knows Best, and Donna Reed always wore pearls whilst dusting and vacuuming and white gloves to do the shopping. Am I to understand that was not and is not the case in Texas?

Oh my goodness. Mendel: would have laughed at prissy, self-important pseudo-scientist like you. He would have found you little hissy-fits risible. He would have deplored your atheism and your Marxism. He would have ripped about y0our loopy and irrational argumentation. He would have in fact been deeply saddened to find that the West had so rotted out that people like you exist,

Stop enlisting the dead Mendel in your pursuit of Marxist group think.

You are not in the least like Mendel, nor do you comprehend him as the broader soul that he was. This is a typical failing of Leftists–actually two–they think that they are “Scientific”
and they co-opt real thinkers and scientist of the past to their hideous agenda. What they are is really “Materialistic” and positivists who are so filled with megalomania that they have lost all respect for the accomplishments of the past.

You exactly do this as regards Mendel. What you are implying here is intellectually dishonest in the extreme.

Once again we see from you hysteria, mis-characterization, straw men and read herrings. Above all, we see ad homiem attacks instead of rational debate.

You are a Left wing loon. At your age you should be ashamed of yourself.

The whole deal in Texa is to attempt to take make curricula from the hideous, Marxist propagandists who have ruinned it. It is not really about “evolution” at all, it is about exposing Socialism for what it is: the false relgin o the State. You are merely attmptng to muddy the waters in order to obscure this.

They should eat their peas anyway, but they will not be allowed to evolve. Their children will be left behind.

  6. What about the millions who haven’t bought the lie of evolution? What are they to do?
