I think that it’s the same sort of thing that we saw up here with Tim Ball palming himself off as a climatologist despite a real paucity of publications in the field on his part.
A sad reliance upon credentialism. But when you’ve got nothing else…
My first postgraduate degree was in ecology, and I’ve a number of peer-reviewed publications concerned with the ecology of various reptile and amphibian species. I still wouldn’t call myself an ecologist, but I’d have far more justification for doing so than this fellow. Can’t tell you how annoying I find this sort of thing.

Oh well. Keep up the good work, Ed.

I suppose they want his public policy expertise in ecology? I don’t see any to speak of on his CV. Good catch, Lars. Thanks.

Ed, your “professor of ecological science” has a rather tenuous claim to the title of “ecologist”. If you have a look at his CV (http://ruby.fgcu.edu/courses/sciproc/FacultyCV/WimberleyCV.pdf), his views might be a bit less surprising, though no more laudable.

Rather like some weathermen being expert debunkers of AGW.
