DALLAS, YOUR TEACHERS NEED YOU NOW!
Mike Miles has been quoted as saying he is zooming in on teachers because that's where 70% of the budget goes. He has also said the he "Moves to the sounds of the guns". The guns are firing every second against teachers and if Mr. Miles truly wants what is best for the children of Dallas he should be supporting teachers with a nurturing, positive approach. When will those in power understand that teachers are the asset that makes DISD profitable? As teachers, we are the ones helping graduation rates to improve, dropout rates to lower, and we carry the weight of educating the future not only of TEXAS but of the UNITED STATES with pride and commitment . I repeat, TEACHERS, are the mentors of every future professional and skilled worker in AMERICA. Parents, fellow teachers, spouses, sons, daughters, citizens of Dallas, business owners, government officials, WE NEED YOU, we are 100% dedicated to Dallas's children, we do not want to go to other districts, even if they are better paying and less stressful, we are COMMITTED to the future of DALLAS, you must heed our call for help, do not allow us to be bashed by ten minute evaluations that would never paint a true picture of who we fully are, STOP the pressure that is making us not be as effective as we have been in YEARS PAST. BARE WITNESS of what we have done for you, ATTEST to the difference we have made in your life, your family's life, your children's lives. DEMAND that we be treated fairly and respected for what we've done, WE ARE NOT BLANK SLATES, we have worked and continue to work incessantly to provide DALLAS children with a WORLD CLASS EDUCATION, no leader has to tell us that's what our children deserve, we have ALWAYS KNOWN. Is it in the best interest of Dallas to lose its educational talent because we can no longer risk our health, and the health of our relationships outside of the workplace? This is the time to stand by those teachers that have enriched your lives. Show us your true commitment and appreciation, speak up at a DISD Board Members’ Meeting, write to Superintendent Miles, ask Cindy Burkett, our State Representative, Senator Corona, the Governor, the Mayor, anyone who can be affected by your vote to look into the practices of DISD towards its teachers, join your voices with us, do not allow your teachers to be mistreated any longer. We have watched you change, grow up, be successful, we have been with you in good and bad times, and now we need you, all of you that have been positively affected by a DISD teacher. Will you answer our call?
