California legislator would bar Texas social studies changes

California may be down, but it’s not dumb.  According to AP in the San Jose Mercury-News (Silicon Valley edition):

Legislation by Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, seeks to protect the nation’s largest public school population from the revised social studies curriculum approved in March by the Texas Board of Education. Critics say if the changes are incorporated into textbooks, they will be historically inaccurate and dismissive of the contributions of minorities.

Under Yee’s bill, SB1451, the California Board of Education would be required to look out for any of the Texas content as part of its standard practice of reviewing public school textbooks. The board must then report any findings to both the Legislature and the secretary of education.

The bill describes the Texas curriculum changes as “a sharp departure from widely accepted historical teachings” and “a threat to the apolitical nature of public school governance and academic content standards in California.”

“While some Texas politicians may want to set their educational standards back 50 years, California should not be subject to their backward curriculum changes,” Yee said. “The alterations and fallacies made by these extremist conservatives are offensive to our communities and inaccurate of our nation’s diverse history.”

Bully for California and Rep. Leland Yee.

Tip of the old scrub brush to HeyMash.

  1. Wow, Hattip. You’re in the running for dumbest troll I’ve ever seen, which is quite an accomplishment, given that I’ve been using the internet for over fifteen years.

Good on you, Hattip. This is what we need. Textbooks that don’t mention Paul Revere, but make sure our children are familiar with Phyllis Schlafly. Attaboy.

You are without a doubt one of the most obnoxiously, intentionally ignorant louts I’ve seen in a long time, Hattip.

There are no Marxists involved. Texas doesn’t have teacher unions (no union card, no shop steward, forbidden by law from striking and other collective action, no collective bargaining at all).

It’s the conservatives who propose to eliminate teaching about Thomas Jefferson, and it’s the conservatives who propose to require false things be taught (no separation of church and state in the Constitution, for example).

Why shouldn’t anyone else refuse to buy a book made inaccurate by Texas fiat? Just be very glad these clowns have no say on medical school curricula.

Let me fix that for you

California and Rep. Leland Yee are Bullies.

    AND

The treasonous Marxist propagandists say if the changes are incorporated into textbooks, they will be historically inaccurate and dismissive of the contributions of minorities.

    AND

Legislation by Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, seeks to protect the nation’s largest public teacher’s union from the being found out as incompetent left-wing hacks.

    There, that’s more like it.

Seriously. It is the multicult Marxists that create a fake history and wildly inflate the “contributions of minorities”, such as they are. You are constantly getting things precisely backwards and projecting your own failings onto others who are being perfectly reasonable. How Democrat of you.

They do not do this out of love for those minorities btw, but out of a desire to demoralize the West and indoctrinate the impressionable into their vile ideology and false religion–oh and build another minority plantation to lock in votes. You are such a tool; the quintessential “useful idiot”.

You cannot face adults so you have to lie to children. The nation is on to you folks; Texas is just the beginning. Get. Used To. It.

You constant whining about this issue is merely proves that you fear that young people will actually hear the truth, that decent people are actually taking back the educational system and teaching them the truth instead of cramming down there throats a pack of left-wing lies and cant. Deep inside, you know that all this Marxist, multicult baloney will not withstand adult supervision, the light of reason and an accurate telling of history. It is like watching cockroaches scurry when a light is turned on. Get Used. To It.

You project your intellectual primitiveness on to people who are wiser and have more real knowledge than you. You entire inner life is nothing but a delusion. This is what you cannot face and you would attempt to cheat young people out of their civilization in order to maintian your vain denial of reality.

Imagine, a law passed by a state legislature to in effect censor textbooks because of a lack of ideological purity. No wonder California is turning into a third world hell-hole. Texans are laughing at CA, when they are not feeling pity.

You should be ashamed of yourself, but of course you abandoned that long ago when you took up the lie of Cultural Marxism. You certainly should be allowed nowhere near young people.
