Academy Award winner: “Logorama”

Delightfully creative.  Surely there is at least a bell ringer in here, just in identifying the different logos.  For economics and sociology classes, this is a study in branding, done in very interesting fashion.

Can you use it in class, even at 16 minutes?  The language may be too edgy for freshman and sophomores, yes?

A short description from the Vimeo post, by Marc Altshuler, who owns the company who created and recorded the music for the film:

This is a short film that was directed by the French animation collective H5, François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy + Ludovic Houplain. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2009. It opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and won a 2010 academy award under the category of animated short.

In this film there are two pieces of licensed music, in the beginning and in the end. All the other music and sound design are original. The opening track (Dean Martin “Good Morning Life”) and closing track (The Ink Spots “I don’t want to send the world on fire”) songs are licensed pre-existing tracks. All original music and sound design is by, human (www.humanworldwide.com)

Brilliant little work even if you can’t use it in class.

  1. Dr. Jon Brown says:

Good day. It is quite unfathomable to me that Glenn Beck could draw anyone’s attention or criticism for that matter; except for the fact that he corroborates his information with unmitigated fact and substantive evidence. You, along with the myriad of other Americans both Black and White, seem to affront a post-modern, put-my-head-in-the-sand perspective that ignores not only the evidence he personally presents, but the credible authors, researchers and astute informers that validate his claims.

Please, be an ignorant guest, and go ahead and REFUTE THE LITERATURE AND SCHOLARSHIP regarding the African-American piece that Glenn Beck presented. YOU CAN’T. One of my former majors (African-American studies) stands in symbiotic congruity with Mr. Beck and attests to the validity of his arguments. Or much like the homosexual, Hispanic and other communities, go ahead and highjack Civil Rights, the right to pursue intellectual truth and every other facet of life that pursues true knowledge such as these groups do.

Despite the inexhaustible research that I myself conduct in a preponderance of disciplines, there is one indisputable difference between your novice scholarship and that of revolutionary “right wingers” such as Glenn Beck”; he doesn’t unjustly or chicanerously criticize his pundits, and actually urges his audience to discover the evidence/facts for themselves. Yourself, however, along with every other self-imposed human deity always seems to have criticism replete for those who seem to stand for God, country and incontestable truth. I find it fascinating. With the debilitation of the evolutionary model via Microbiology, Quantum Algebra, NASA aeronautical technology and a plethora of other sciences and mathematical disciplines, you still choose to ignore truth. Please continue to provide such humor that cleaning our “ancestor
s” (monkeys, apes and the like) behinds actually would become a beautiful past-time. Have a good day… and listen to Beck…you might find God and common sense like he did
