Bluegrass Situation put together a play list of the key Jerry Garcia stuff all fans oughtta know — so it includes Grateful Dead and Old and In the Way.

You’ll probably have to sign in for Spotify (at Spotify.com), if you aren’t already registered — but if you’re a Garcia fan, it might be worth it.

If you’re not a Garcia and Dead fan, more is the pity.

It’s a good listen, any time.

  1. Ed Darrell says:

Nice to know others share my likes.

But I came to like the Grateful Dead (and the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones) late; Old and In the Way was a great entry into Garcia and the Dead for me, after learning to love bluegrass in my days in Washington, D.C., and nights in the Birchmere.

Garcia’s catalog is so large, I was grateful to stumble on that Spotify site as a way to learn what’s good, and where it’s hiding.

Now, if I could just find a similar channel to learn the jazz classics I need for the monthly jazz jam, I’d be much better off!

  2. It’s nice to know after reading you all these years that you like the same music I do. These are two of my very favorite albums that I’ve heard a bazillion times and I still like.
