Conservatives get crazier every day:  In Indiana, a state representative urges colleagues to vote against a resolution honoring Girl Scouts of America, for imaginary reasons.

A state legislator has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he will not support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a “radicalized organization” that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.

In a letter obtained by The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne on Monday, Rep. Bob Morris of Fort Wayne said he did some research on the Internet and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, allow transgender females to join and encourage sex.

“After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of web-based research, and what I found is disturbing,” Morris wrote in his letter, which also accused the group of promoting “homosexual lifestyles.”

Morris sent the letter to House Republicans on Saturday.

Ashley Sharp, spokeswoman for the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana, said Monday a statement on the group’s website states that it leaves sex and reproduction questions to parents. The group accepts transgender youth on a case-by-case basis.

Morris is the only House member to refuse to sign a resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts that lawmakers approved last week. He told the Journal Gazette that others would join him in opposing the resolution but later recanted that statement in an interview with The Associated Press.

That old “some research on the Internet” as a source.

It’s scary people can be so delusional without resorting to psychotropic drugs. Is this guy smoking the same stuff Rick Santorum and Rick Perry smoke?

    Ellie,

Until I learn differently, I shall simply presume everyone on your list is a Marxist lesbian with a secret plan to overthrow Real ‘Murrica…

    That is all.

Jim, I’m happy you don’t live there anymore, if this is an example of who the populace wants in control. There was just an article in our local paper about a former Girl Scout leader who was celebrating her 100th birthday, surrounded by many of her former Scouts who have kept in touch with her and with each other all these years. Several of them act as helpers for her now. Most of them are/were (widows) married with children. They all spoke about how she and the Girl Scouts were such positive influences in their lives.

I guess they hadn’t heard about The Agenda. I wonder how Laura Bush, Lucille Ball, Martha Stewart, Nancy Reagan, Mary Tyler Moore, Dorothy Hamill, Venus Williams, “Ann Landers,” and so many others escaped the Girl Scouts’ Evil Agenda?

    Ellie,

I lived in Fort Wayne for 23 years. That part of Indiana has been electing crazies for ages. I made many wonderful (sane) friends there — Republican and Democratic. But the tinfoil hatters sometimes seemed to outnumber the rest of us.

I worked in Christian radio there, as you know, managing a pretty good news operation. Oh my, the calls and faxes and letters we received! Common thread: most of the senders were devotees of James Dobson and readers of “authors” like Dave Hunt, Constance Cumby, Gary North, George Grant and Texe Marrs. Google ’em if you dare.

I miss my friends. I don’t miss Indiana’s brand of conservatism. No, not one bit.

Me too. I discovered that Queen Elizabeth and Boxcar Willie are Reptilians, that there’s a mirror planet to Earth hiding behind the Sun, that Bin Laden is still alive and/or has been dead since 2002, that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, that the years between 614-911 A.D. never existed, that glass flows enough over time to see the effect, that US weapons testing caused the Haiti Earthquake, that Paul is Dead and that aliens are stealing my luggage. It’s a wonder anyone researches anything anymore.

Can that letter possibly be real?

It sounds like something I would read in The Onion. Has Indiana now decided to elect insane people to run the State?
