Poll: Almost 90% say Texas should teach “evolution only”

A television station in College Station-Bryan, Texas, KBTX (Channel 3, a CBS affiliate) ran a poll on what Texas schools should be doing about evolution in biology classes.  After hearing for days from the creationists on the State Board of Education that most people think creationism should be taught, the results are a little astounding:

Results: How do you think science should be taught in Texas schools?

Evolution only – 89.62%
Creationism only – 2.96%
Combination of both – 7.42%
Total Responses – 9126

It just goes to show what happens when people speak up, no?

Hannah, the Institute for Creation Research has been trying to make a lengthy post on that issue for more than 40 years. Good luck getting it done before the end of the semester.

Twoblueday, I’m in process of putting together a rather lengthy post about that question on my blog. I’ll try to finish it before the semester is over, but no promises.

twoblueday: you know, of course, that the Texas Board of Education wanted to let schools grant MASTERS DEGREES in creationism!

So here is my masters thesis: “god did it”

Now where is my masters degree? :)

Would someone please enlighten me as to what there is to “teach” about “creation science” or “intelligent design” or whatever moniker is currently popular. Are students just to memorize the appropriate brief bible passage? What else is there to it?

I consider all polls to be dishonest attempts to manipulate that I ignore them all.

“Freeped” is Daily Kos slang for “let’s go over there and inflate that poll’s results. :-) We use “freep” as a verb.

It is named after the right wing blog “Free Republic” where they do that.

Yes, I missed the humor tag but I did follow the link to PZ’s blog.

So, you clicked on the link on the phrase “when people speak up?” Don’t miss the “Humor” tag.

    “Freeped?” Is that a word?

Please. This is an internet poll which was “freeped” by the readers of places like PZ Myers blog.

I wish that most people in Texas thought that way but both of us know that this is far from the truth.
